Holy poo.
Yes, I'm still alive in this little world we call Livejournal. Barely alive, but alive. Can't post much but I'll give you guys some bits...
1) Mel and I are approaching our first (of many I'm sure :D) year together.
2) School's going well since moving back home. I ended up with a 3.133 GPA last semester and am hopefully working toward the same thing, if not better, this semester. Surprise factor: My Drama Classes. I've got a wicked professor who marks really hard, but only because he gets all of the kiddies that go into Drama for easy marks. I just did my school schedule at the U of A next semester, if all goes well, I'll have a grand spanking total of 18 lab hours and 1 lecture hour. That'll learn you that drama's not an easy class to take.
3) Been working at the college as well. My boss loved me so much over the summer he hired me back on part-time over the school year.
Other than that, I've gotten back into writing stories and have been chilling out at home.
Take care all :).

Speaking of people IN Calgary right now, Yves and I would like to pass on a hearty,
HELLO!
We've been having a good time down here, the downtown core is SO much better than Edmonton's, which is sad to say about my home city but it's true :(.
We've spent a couple of nights at a cute little hostel here known as the Hauberge Chez Nous. I told Yves that if you want a little bit of the international flavour thrown right in your face, a hostel is the way to do it. We've met two girls from Germany (Both of them cute might I add), as well as a gentleman from Bangladesh and a LOT of people from both Quebec and France (Hence the name of the hostel dont'cha know?)
What have we been doing? Well, when we got into town we wandered (I swear my buddha's going to melt with all the WALKING we've been doing) from the bus station to the hostel, which was a little farther than expected. Pulled into the hostel and checked in and then our fun began. Saturday night we went off to the Warehouse. Let me tell you it's no New City but we ran into Dallas, his girlfriend Melissa and their friends Alicia and Alana, which might I add is cousin to a friend of mine.
After that little bit of excitement I wandered home, Yves, in typical Yves fashion, wanted to stick around and catch up with Dallas and see if he could score.
Now anybody who knows me knows that my sense of direction sucks butt. I ended up getting lost, but among my travels I found the OTHER hostel that gave me the street address and I ended up merrily being on my way.
I got to bed and shortly thereafter, Yves was "escorted" to the room by the late night hostel hostess. She didn't look none too happy either, but he at least managed to make it to his bed and pass out fine.
I woke up early the next morning and decided to get some sunshine. This downtown core is beautiful, let me tell ya, that, and I forgot to pack shampoo :P. So I hiked over to a convenience store and picked up some shampoo and conditioner, and came back here. Yves woke up shortly thereafter and then we bolted around the city. We went looking for poster board which of course NOTHING is open at 5pm on a Sunday. We took off to the movie theatre and watched, "The Longest Yard," great movie :). Kind of formulaic but awesome nonetheless :).
Came back and did some more wandering, and wandering, and wandering, until we decided to stop off at Ceili's and have a few drinks :). Haven't had a Strongbow in a lllloooooonnnnnngggggg time, so that was nice. We then came back to the hostel and stayed up till the wee hours of the morning speaking to Annette and her friend, before we get on with our daily schedule.
On tap for today? We have to get the poster board and sharpies for signs and potentially going swimming in the Bow River. If Annette and her friend are around, we may just invite them to come with us.
Should be fun :).
Catch you on the flipside.

While being bored, and browsing through Livejournal, I discovered this rather interesting thing.
1. Queue up your mp3 player on shuffle. 2. List the first twenty songs that come up, adding "in my pants" to the end of each. 3. Post in your journal.
And so, here is what I came up with :)
Tattoo in my pants - Rancid Send Me An Angel in my pants - Real Life I Ran in my pants - Bowling For Soup Hundred Million in my pants - Treble Charger O Fortuna in my pants - Apotheosis (One of them remix type industrial things ;)) I Would Die For You in my pants - Garbage The Way in my pants - Amorphis The Battle Of New Orleans in my pants - Johnny Horton Sweet Dreams in my pants - Eurythmics Save It For Later in my pants - English Beat Rocket Man in my pants - Stewie From Family Guy Punk Rock Girl in my pants - Dead Milkmen I Would Walk 500 Miles in my pants - Me First And The Gimme Gimmes Stand Up in my pants - Steel Dragon Johnny in my pants - System Of A Down I Think I Love You in my pants - Me First And The Gimme Gimmes Land Down Under in my pants - Me First And The Gimme Gimmes Lola in my pants - The Kinks Jump Around in my pants - House Of Pain Roll Another Joint in my pants - Tom Petty
Damn, if I did this for my entire collection of myoozak, it'd take forever, the ones italicized are the ones I think are quite funny ;)

 | You scored as Buddhism. Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Buddhism. Do more research on Buddhism and possibly consider becoming Buddhist, if you are not already.
In Buddhism, there are Four Noble Truths: (1) Life is suffering. (2) All suffering is caused by ignorance of the nature of reality and the craving, attachment, and grasping that result from such ignorance. (3) Suffering can be ended by overcoming ignorance and attachment. (4) The path to the suppression of suffering is the Noble Eightfold Path, which consists of right views, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right-mindedness, and right contemplation. These eight are usually divided into three categories that base the Buddhist faith: morality, wisdom, and samadhi, or concentration. In Buddhism, there is no hierarchy, nor caste system; the Buddha taught that one's spiritual worth is not based on birth.

WARNING: This is a very politically charged rant/well thought out post. Feel free to rebut or agree if you wish, however, be thoughtful, for if it turns into a flame, I will more than happily delete your post.
The above title is very true. I'm very thoroughly enjoying my POLI SCI class (Canadian Political Realities).
Yes, my prof could use a little bit more command of the English language, but after Friday's class and then Monday's class, I've noticed that I'm a pretty passionate person about this place we call Canada. I find that I'm more Canadian Nationalist than anything.
On Friday, we had a discussion about Constitutional Reform, and as always, that nasty little topic we call Quebec popped up. There were some things that I wasn't even aware of, such as Bill 99 in 1977 and Bill 101 that the Quebec Parliament passed, which really raised the hairs on the back of my neck, for example, straight from the U of A keywords Website:
The most controversial sections of ‘Bill 101’ were those restricting access to English schools and prohibiting the use of English on commercial signs. Both became vulnerable after the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms took effect in 1982. Soon afterwards the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that ‘Bill 101’ must be brought into conformity with section 23(1)(b) of the Charter, which guarantees Canadian citizens who received an English education in Canada the right to educate their children in English (see Quebec (A.G.) v. Quebec Protestant School Boards, [1984] 2 S.C.R. 66). In 1988 the provision relating to signs was struck down as a violation of freedom of expression (see Ford v. Quebec A.G., [1988] 2 S.C.R. 712), but the Bourassa government promptly used the notwithstanding clause to re-enact it in a modified form, a measure that caused three anglophone cabinet ministers to resign. In 1993 a further modification allowed English to appear on signs posted outdoors provided the French words were more prominent.
Sometimes, I have to say that I think Pierre Elliot Trudeau has got to be one of the strongest Canadian Nationalists to entrench the Canadian Charter of Rights And Freedoms. I mean, I understand that Quebec wants to protect its language and culture, however, there are OTHER people in that province that reside there as well. If you wanted to scare the business out of Quebec, that was one way you could do it.
The other bill that caught my eye was Bill 99, which was tabled by Jacques Parizeau shortly after the Canadian Government tabled the Clarity Act after the referendum of 1995. What the Clarity Act seeks to do is it gives permission for any province to secede, however, the question HAS to be a clear one. Not only that, it has to be approved by two-thirds of the Provincial Leaders to approve the secession. Here are a few quotes from Bill 99:
"The right of the Quebec people to self-determination is founded in fact and in law."
"The Quebec people alone, acting through its own political institutions, has the right to decide the nature, scope, and mode of exercise of its right to self-determination."
It also goes on to say that Quebec is a unilingual province. Did I forget to mention that rep by pop is a joke? Quebec has 25% of the Federal Legislature seats, yet has less than 25% of the population of Canada. No wonder our western leaders are screaming for more participation in federal politics. Bill 99 passed, and the federal government refused to act on it, as it could raise separatist sentiment in Quebec once again, and if it got challenged by the federal government at the Supreme Court, you could definitely say Bill 99 would be deemed unconstitutional as it runs into laws set in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
That was Friday, then Monday, and we started comparing political systems between Canada, Great Britain, and the United States.
Well, the statement, "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," came up in the U.S. Constitution, my Poli Sci teacher said that's a loaded statement in itself, as of right now, that little statement is in regards to the oil in Iraq. They're bringing democracy there, however, they're also reaping the benefits of that country's oil reserves (Why else would Halliburton KBR be over there?). I concurred with him, but brought up the Truman Policy as well. For those that don't know, the Truman Policy pretty much dictates that if you're not a democratic nation, you're pretty much the enemy. The U.S. has pretty much stated that the western hemisphere is theirs, if not militarily then economically, with the exception of Cuba (And we all know about the Cuban Missile Crisis). The only difference in this policy is, "If you're a country known to harbour terrorists, you are an enemy of the U.S., and must be subjugated to democracy." They don't read the small print though, Which also means we reap the benefits of your country.
Holy crap. I didn't think I could write that long ;).

You know something?
I think my workplace, people excluded, can suck bottom sometimes.
I love my job, don't get me wrong, but just some of the guidelines they have in place to "Meet or Exceed" expectations just doesn't make sense.
We are expected for example, to have at least 5 forms on the training teams.
That much I can understand, however, what gets me mad is on the training team, we've got development plans to write, as well as just general babysitting for most of these kids. For example,
"No, you cannot have food or drink at your station other than water,"
"Why not?"
"Because it is company policy as if you spill it, it makes things all sticky and gooey and stuff."
Children rule :P.
Then, here I am fretting about my partner Angela, who's alone Tuesdays and Thursdays because I'm off and Christine is training, add to the fact that we get anywhere from between 10 to 50 people a week hired, it makes it near impossible for her.
On the plus side, I'm back in school, which makes me happy. Taking POLS 221, CLAS 102 (Thanks A-M!), and SOCI 100 (This class looks like fun).
Funny part is my Poli Sci Teacher is Bengali, and his accent comes out in full force.
Whenever he says his "S" words, they come out as "Sh".
So for example it would be "Shteve."
Heh heh.
Oh well, time to read more on the creation myth :D.

Just have to say, this Perfect Circle CD with what I'm listening to has got to kick some serious hiney. It's mostly covers, I'll admit, but I have to say it's got a pretty dark cover of John Lennon's "Imagine," my brother also recommended, "Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums." <-- What a name for a tune. Not to mention another tune known as, "Passive."
I have to say this CD, although covers, is a step up from last year's album, although I don't think anything will top their first album together ;).
Now I just have to wait for my PS2 from the lady and my roomie, as my dad came back and claimed his PS2 back yesterday, in the name of Hot Shots Golf - Fore!
I've got to go shopping tomorrow for my "After Christmas Gifts,"
All I have ideas for, but I'm not really sure what one of the ladies wants :).
We'll see.
